๐Ÿ“ Formula & Method

Battery C-Rate

C-rate = Charge or discharge power (kW) รท Battery capacity (kWh)

A theoretical 1C rate would transfer energy equal to the battery capacity in one hour.

๐Ÿ“‹ How to Use

  1. 1

    Enter charging or discharging power.

  2. 2

    Enter battery capacity.

  3. 3

    Calculate the C-rate.

  4. 4

Compare with the battery manufacturer limits.

What Battery C-Rate Means

C-rate normalizes power against battery size. A 150 kW rate on a 75 kWh pack is 2C. This simple relationship does not account for tapering, heat, cell limits, or reserve buffers.

๐Ÿ”ฌ Methodology & Accuracy

Formula: Uses the standard mathematical formula shown in the Formula & Method section above. All computations run client-side in your browser โ€” no data is sent to our servers.

Data sources: Tax bands, contribution limits and regulatory rates are taken from official US (IRS, SSA) and UK (HMRC, gov.uk) publications for the current tax year, and updated when bands change.

Last reviewed: June 2026 · General formula used: Battery C-Rate · Accuracy: Results are precise to two decimal places using IEEE-754 double-precision arithmetic. Intended for educational and planning use only.
