How Much Should You Tip?

In the United States, standard tipping practice is 15โ€“20% for sit-down restaurant service, 10โ€“15% for counter service, 15โ€“20% for ride-share and taxi, and $1โ€“2 per drink at a bar. For exceptional service, 25% or more is appreciated.

Some countries have very different tipping cultures. In Australia, Japan, and New Zealand tipping is not expected, while the UK is typically 10โ€“15% for restaurant service.
